Laseroperation of my eye's, downhill and some street-funk

Yeah, the previous week kept going in a high tempo in the beginning. Traing was good but I started feeling so tired and my legs were so empty of energy on Tuesday night, after I started double my trainings to twice a day. Wednes/Thursday I started feeling sick and decided to take some rest till it felt better but Fri was also a national holiday (midsummer day - the longest day of the year when sun stays up most hours). I met my old high school class and we hade a nice time, interesting to see how everybody has kept going in life, some was married with kids, other only studied and didn't meet other people.

The rest of the weekend did I spend with my father at his vacation house, and at my mums vacation house where I was playing around with a new water scooter and also went kayaking in the beautiful archipelago. Monday I'was back training and went downhilling (on MTB) with my friend Mattias and it was great! Followed by the wt room...  Tuesday I was doing a laser operation of my eye's so I don't need contacts or glasses anymore. The operation went good and now I'm not allowed to work or train for a week. I went dancing though, the rest of the day with some (new) friends. It's a street-funk intensive class I'm taking and it's fun to pushing me picking up new moves and train to use my body again. I've missed it!!

Overall, I'm doing better back here but I'm also planning for going back to Denver around Xmas and beginning of Jan08 so I hope some of you are gonna be there then!!

A good weekend

Yay! This weekend was intense but good. Friday night I had one of my best dance nights for a long time, at Gräsmyr. A lot of good dancers and interesting dances that felt very inspiring. Saturday we got out for climbing most of the day and in the night we went to Hanssons loge. Another nice place, but the age was generally higher and less good dancers. It was some new though, coming from Östersund, Sundsvall as well as Lycksele, Hudiksvall! and Gävle. One red-haired girl from Hudik was fun to dance with 'cuz she knew lindy and sometimes I added typical lindy step to the bugg (20s charleston, hand-to-hand and some other moves) and she followed them perfectly and also added more on top of it! Finally I got an entire night of sleep till Sunday when I, Erik and Mattias went kayaking out on the sea. It was sunny with a wonderful blue sky and some waves, but a little chilly air temperatures. A good dinner w/ Erik and some mechanical work with my bike and other stuff ended this good weekend. Tomorrow I'm gonna test the brand new downhill tracks here in town!

More training&orienteering but most important - dancing!

Time has been running with lots of traning and last weekend I competed twice at different places. The second day I actually placed before my old child friend Mattias that usually are way better then me in orienteering, so that's fun.

Sunday night I took the night bus down to Stockholm for visiting Hanna and in the days I worked at my company's office in Stockholm instead. In the night we went dancing, both to places around Stockholm but also just practicing ourselves. Wednesday night we actually got paid for dancing, by participating in an advertisement movie. We and lots of other people are dancing in the short movie, but between the scenes we got free food and beverages, had a perfect tree  floor to practice on and also got paid for this! We had a really fun night. Today Friday I'm back in Örnsköldsvik, will try some kayaking and tonight it's more dancing. Tomorrow we probably are going climbing but maybe even more dancing again...

I still miss Denver and will do my best for maybe come visiting you this Christmas!

I'm happy

I've been working all day, and it has been kind of a shitty day with lots of things going wrong, and some external people holding me for 1½ xtra hour despite I had to leave. But on my way home from an orienteering practice my friend Hanna (Ph.d student from Uppsala, that also lived in Denver this year and was dancing with me) called me and said she just arrived Sweden! It made me so happy she was here safe and tonight we spoke 2 hours about Denver, all the people and a lot about dancing and how we will try to keep going with it! It was so exciting discussing dancing and developing again, with someone who actually have similar experience as I!

I'm happy!

An ordinary Monday in my Swedish life

Well, this is kind of an ordinary "everyday-day" in my life here...
Woke up about 7ish, quick dressed and biked down to work about 5 min away, downtown. Worked pretty nonstop till 5ish pm, with some different stuff. Programming, e-mail servers that crashed and some other computer related planning. Talked to some people in the US before I left 6ish on my bike, first to a close youth-place for discussing some dancing. I talked to a street/funk troop practicing, and asked about joining them. It was awesome to see, even if the music is different was it so great just seeing an organized practice, working with the entire body in front of the mirrors.

After a while, I kept going for 20 min ride out of town to a weight room gym. Some good training and I took my bike back home. Time about 8ish now. Quick change and collect my kayak stuff and drove down to the sea again (next to my work) and went alone for a wonderful kayak ride, in to the very harbour of the town. Warm summer temperatures (in Sweden) with about 75 degrees, the sun still high in the air and the sea is calm. It was so beatiful, seing the people walking slowly along the quay, people fishing, when I entered the harbour one of my old class mates were sitting there with a bunch of girls so I talked a bit before keep paddling.

10ish I left my kayak and came back home, had some food and was reading another chapter in Frankie Mannings biography and checking e-mails. Boring? Some people may think so, but I was satisfied with it, even if I didn't get any good dancing today.....

Lot's of training

Yeah, so what I've been doing last week is summed up in two words, working and training. I went dancing on Friday, and it was a good band and lots of people. Saturday I climbed with my friend Erik, a 5 pitch route and then I went roller skiing before I went to a home party and drove some friends from the bar. Sunday it was an orienteering competition, I picked the toughest route and it was really tough (on the map). Physically it was ok, but the trickyness of finding the checkpoints in the forest without trails can be more or less tricky and this was hard.

Sunday afternoon I did a lot of smaller things, like cutting the grass, cleaning, fixing my bike and getting my sea kaykak from my mum's garage.
